簡介

隨著香港工業北移,在2000年開始不少本地藝術家紛紛在工廠大廈設立工作室,適逢火炭區工廠大廈林立,租金較為藝術家接受,不久沙田火炭工廈凝聚了一群藝術家,逐漸形成一個充滿活力的藝術村。這也成為國際知名。這些火炭藝術工作者不僅來自香港,也有來自海外。


火炭工業區是藝術界臥虎藏龍之地,而藝術家普遍喜歡閉門造車,其後一群藝術家提議在每年某日舉辦工作室開放日,計劃於每年第一季某月連續數個週末於火炭工業區舉行,此計劃取得眾藝術家認同,他們樂於與大眾分享藝術創作的成果,亦不介意向外展現自己日常創作藝術的場所。在這個工廠場景內,沒有華麗的裝修,毫無保留地讓公眾人士闖入其創作世界,欣賞其藝術作品,並聆聽其創作心路歷程。


火炭藝術工作室開放計劃是每年藝術界的盛事,開放日孕育出無數藝術家心血結晶。散落於區內的工廠設立工作室和藝術廊,公眾人士可按圖索驥穿梭於火炭區不同的工廈之間 ; 除了導賞團、座談會、工作坊等豐富節目,更透過路邊藝術,讓整個被隔離的工廠區,隨著藝術的滲透重現生活的氣息。


火炭藝術工作者包括有畫家、雕塑家、陶藝家、版畫、攝影、書法家、混合媒介、動漫畫家、多媒體設計師、錄像及新媒體等,可謂薪火相傳百花齊放 。參觀者可以欣賞各藝術家的創作天地及體驗他們創作歷程,更可親身感受藝術工作者的苦與樂,還可與藝術家直接對話,在輕鬆的氣氛下交流創作心得和經驗。更有些藝術工作者讓參觀者在他們的工場裡試玩製作藝術品。


火炭工業區有別其他城市,大多數藝術園區位於偏遠而荒廢的舊工廠區,而火炭工業區有不少業務依然暢旺,如食品加工、五金、印刷等,更是火炭藝術家的好夥伴 ; 加上美味的工廠飯堂,晚上有特色的大排檔,火炭區加入了一群藝術家後,更呼吸到充滿藝術氣氛的氣味。每年開放日吸引成千上萬的公眾人士前來參觀,由開始至今超過百間工作室及三百多位藝術家參與,參觀人數更超過二萬人次。何不趁火炭藝術工作室開放期間,來火炭一日遊親身感受藝術的靈感與重量。


About us


With the migration of Hong Kong's industry to the Mainland, many local artists began to set up studios in factory buildings since 2000. There were many factory buildings in the Fotan District, as the rental was acceptable. Soon a group of artists gathered in Shatin Fotan Industrial Building, and gradually formed a city full of artists - A vibrant art village. This has also become internationally renowned, and the artists are not only from Hong Kong, but also from overseas.


Fotan Industrial Area is a place where the art world with hidden talent, and artists generally love to hide their work with closed doors. Afterwards, a group of artists proposed to hold a studio open day on a certain day of each year, and planned to be several consecutive weekends in the first quarter. This project has won the recognition of many artists, they are willing to share the achievements of artistic creation with the public, and they don't mind to show their daily creation to the outside. In this factory scene, there is no gorgeous decoration, allowing the public to break into his creative world, appreciate their works of art, and listen to their creative mind journey.


Fotan Open Studios Program is an annual event in the art scene, the artists’ numerous masterpieces were made of painstaking labor and love in the open day. The factories scattered in the district set up studios and art galleries. The public can follow the map to walk around between the different industrial buildings in Fotan, besides the rich programs such as guided tours, seminars, and workshops, the whole area can be brought to life through roadside art, the isolated factory area come to life again with the infiltration of art.


Fotan Open day artists encompass a wide array of media including painters, sculptors, potters, prints, photographers, calligraphers, mixed media, animation painters, multimedia designers, video, and new media. It can be said that all artists would love to see their next generation embracing art and let the arts have free expression too. Visitors can freely explore the artists’ workplace and hear about their artwork techniques, and they can also feel the pain and happiness of artists. To foster sharing and exchange of ideas, one is also encouraged to direct conversations with artists in a relaxed atmosphere. Some artists even let visitors try to make artworks in their workshops.


Fotan Industrial Area is different from other cities, most of the creative industrial parks is located in remote and deserted old factory areas, and Fotan Industrial Area has many businesses that are still booming, such as food processing, hardware, printing, etc., and it is a good partner for Fotan artists. Specially the delicious factory canteen and special food stalls in the evening. Since the artists joined in Fotan, everywhere can breathe the atmosphere full of art. The open day attracts thousands of public visitors every year. From the beginning up to now, hundreds of studios and more than 300 artists participated, and the number of visitors exceeded 20,000.
